Living Life Adult Day Care

Today we revisited Living Life Adult Day Care in Doral, Florida! This facility has really grown since our last visit! Expanding the reach of Silver Tunes for Golden Memories is my goal, so we brought along guests this time: our friend Carlos with his mother Mary Carmen. They organized some awesome activities to help enhance the seniors' cognitive skills! They played a game with the seniors where they would say the first half of a common phrase, and the seniors would say the rest of it. This
activity helps them improve their memory. After this fun activity, they colored some pictures to help with their dexterity. The seniors really enjoyed the extra surprise after dancing to all of their favorite songs. As always, the staff was very polite and they helped the seniors have a good time. We're definitely looking forward to a future encore performance!

Epworth Village

Today, we visited Epworth Village for the 3rd time and we really enjoyed playing for our regulars! They clapped and sang along with us as we played our songs, which they still remembered from decades ago. One of the seniors even wanted to know when she could see us play with FIU's Marching Band!

Silver Tunes for Golden Memories is introducing a new community service initiative, visiting seniors that live at home under the care of their relatives. This is the case for Osvaldo and Paula Lopez. They are a unique couple that has been married for 71 years!!! That's incredible! My great-grandparents also made it up to their 70th anniversary, but it's really rare! We brought our music to their home where they live with their daughter, Irma. They really enjoyed listening to music from their home country, Cuba, which they left about 45 years ago! Mr. Lopez sang all of the lyrics to Quizas, Quizas, Quizas (Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps) from memory. This is amazing considering that he is 91 years old! Mrs. Lopez particularly loved the song Guantanamera. I am very happy to be able to visit them and I hope to visit more home-bound seniors in the future to bring them familiar music and joyful memories!

Xclusive Adult Day Care

After several invitations to perform again at Xclusive ADC, we were finally able to visit today, on President's Day! We were happy to visit because not only is it a wonderful location, but our grandpa attends this center as well! The seniors were very happy since they were also celebrating Valentine's Day. They absolutely loved all of the romantic ballads from the Golden Age and everyone was singing along to the catchy tunes. They knew all of the lyrics and afterwards even told us about how they had danced to that song with their husband or wife when they were younger! We really enjoyed our President's Day and we hope the seniors did too!

Villa Maria Rehabilitation Center

Performing at Villa Maria & Saint Catherine in Hialeah Gardens is a delight! Silver Tunes for Golden Memories is always welcomed by Ms. Shaleen Chin, the Ocupational Therapy Manager and Activities Director, her wonderful staff and their patients. This time, a patient and an employee couldn't contain their emotions and started crying when they heard the Cuban national anthem. A three-year-old boy was visiting his great-grandmother and started dancing and singing on his chair. He was so cute! The warm atmosphere of this center, the round of applause and the appreciation expression of the public made this a lovely Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Day.

Cordero Assisted Living Facility

Today I visited Cordero Assisted Living Facility, in the heart of Westchester. They support elderly and disabled adults who are unable to live independently with love and dedication. The residents were all delighted with the performance. It was fun to entertain them, but even better to see the happiness on their faces.

Double Nine Seniors Club

It was a pleasure for us to visit the newest facility of Double Nine Seniors Club in Hialeah, Florida. The facility is spectacular! The staff members were very nice and the seniors were super energetic! They really enjoyed our performance. We first visited them about two years ago. Some of the seniors remembered us from last time! There was a Brazilian patient, who spoke very little Spanish. When we played "Brazil", she began crying from joy. We enjoyed playing for them and we took many pictures with them.

Golden Ranch

Today, Silver Tunes for Golden Memories traveled to Southwest Ranches, FL. We visited Golden Ranch, a beautiful assisted living facility owned by Ms. Gina Dorado. We were impressed by the atmosphere and decorations of the house! It looks like a country resort! The staff were very kind and helpful. The seniors enjoyed our performance! We hope to return to Southwest Ranches again!

Golden Ranch II

We continued traveling to Broward County, and we found ourselves at another beautiful assisted living facility in Miramar, Florida. Also owned by Ms. Gina Dorado, Golden Ranch II is a place where seniors can enjoy the rest of their lives away from the commotion of the city. We were amazed by the beautiful fruit trees in the yard, filled with guava, oranges, mangoes, avocados, and many other fruits. The seniors enjoy a really amazing view from their home! They already invited us to play at their Christmas party since the seniors enjoyed the performance so much!
